BELMONT, Calif.—October 30, 2015 - RingCentral, Inc. (NYSE:RNG), a leading provider of cloud communication solutions, today announced that Teachers College, Columbia University has selected RingCentral over legacy on-premise competitors as their unified cloud provider for the institution’s communication and collaboration. Teachers College was looking to employ a world-class solution designed for their 1,700 faculty, staff and resident students to communicate easily across mobile devices, tablets, desktop computers, and even desk phones. They wanted these multiple devices to enable modern, multi-channel communications, conferencing and team collaboration, and support for built-in integrations with cloud business application like Google for Work. By selecting RingCentral, Columbia can ensure faculty, staff, and students have access to the most advanced enterprise communications to increase their efficiency and productivity.
“We selected RingCentral because it offers a modern, cloud-based, light weight approach to communication and collaboration,” said Naveed Husain, CIO, Teachers College, Columbia University. “As we assessed different options, it was clear that moving to RingCentral would allow us to leapfrog traditional VOIP systems and change how we communicate and collaborate with its rich and innovative features, easy administration, and integrations with apps we use everyday like Gmail. The addition of Glip to RingCentral’s portfolio is also really impressive. We’ve been quickly adopting Glip throughout our organization, communicating, sharing documents, and collaborating on projects.”
As part of the deployment, RingCentral is customizing its offering to suit the needs of Teachers College giving their students a product that provides easy extension dialing and quick dialing to key student resources, such as on-campus security. Deployment of RingCentral is currently underway and will be supported by RingCentral’s implementation team who will assist Teachers College IT personnel in a smooth and seamless rollout.
“Cloud adoption and mobile ubiquity is fueling the demand to untether people from antiquated on-premise phone systems, and replace them with smart cloud-based solutions that deliver voice, text, audio conferencing, video meetings, and a host of other innovative capabilities,” said Vlad Shmunis, CEO, founder and chairman of RingCentral. “We’re thrilled to be chosen by Teachers College, Columbia University to provide next generation enterprise communications.”
The selection of RingCentral by Columbia happened through RingCentral’s indirect channel, which is validation of the importance and growing impact of this channel for RingCentral.
