Outgrowing a fragmented telephony infrastructure

Like many organizations that enjoy early success, Doral Health & Wellness found itself needing to expand quickly to accommodate growing interest from new patients both within and beyond the community of its original facility in East New York, Brooklyn.
As IT Director Todd Coggins explains, the busy organization was soon adding locations around the city – and signing up for various telecommunications services to help keep the growing staff of doctors, nurses, and support personnel connected to each other and accessible to patients.
“We had a couple of PBX servers in closets, two different solutions for our call-center operations – one physical, the other virtual – and another vendor for texting. I knew that based on our growth rate we needed to move away from this type of fragmented infrastructure and replace our onsite hardware with a cloud solution. That was our impetus for finding RingCentral.”
In our research of the main cloud-communication providers, RingCentral was clearly the best in the sense that it checked all our boxes in terms of functionality. RingCentral easily integrates into their tech stack

A key driver of Doral Health & Wellness’s decision to upgrade its IT communications environment, Todd explains, was consolidating systems and vendors to improve workflows and create a better communication experience for patients and their families.
By migrating their telephony environment to RingCentral MVP and RingCentral Contact Center, Todd notes that the organization was able to achieve this goal in two ways. First, reducing its various telecom vendors to one partner – RingCentral – for voice, SMS, fax, Contact Center, live reporting, and even AI capabilities. Second, more than any other vendor they researched, Todd’s team found RingCentral integrates seamlessly into his company’s tech stack.
“RingCentral just fit into all the important apps our teams depend on: our CRM Zoho; Microsoft Teams, where we’re embedding the RingCentral dialer; and the healthcare app Health UX. The RingCentral API is also going to help us with the proprietary app we’re building for our agents, by making it easy for them to text and call right from that platform.”

Reducing telecom expenses

Although it wasn’t the primary objective in Doral Health & Wellness’s migration to unified cloud communications, Todd points out that consolidating solutions and vendors – and being able to eliminate ongoing maintenance of on-prem telephony hardware – is saving the organization considerably on its telecom costs.
By eliminating all these legacy telecom services and moving everything over to RingCentral, we’re saving about $24,000 a year.
